SIMONSIG LAUNCHES FIRST BRUT ROSÉ

Simonsig Estate, pioneers of South Africa’s first Méthode Cap Classique, has added a blushing débutante to the their lineage of award-winning Champagne style sparkling wines, Simonsig Brut Rosé 2005.

This full flavoured dry Rosé enthralls with femininity and finesse as the latest addition to the celebrated MCC family of this legendary Stellenbosch landmark, expanding the range of styles offered by the estate.

“My enduring passion for bubblies stems from my late father, Frans Malan, the first South African to produce bottle fermented sparkling wine in 1971,” said Simonsig Cellar Master Johan Malan whose meticulous winemaking instincts are evident in his latest creation.

The alluring Simonsig Brut Rosé 2005 is composed of 94% Pinotage and 6% Pinot Noir, resulting in a crescendo of romantic, salmon pink with a persistent pearly bead.

“The look, taste and feel…everything about our Brut Rosé epitomises style, quality and romance, the essence of this magnificent new MCC,” added Johan, who is also the founding chairman of the Cap Classique Producers Association.

Rose petal and red berry aromas dominate the nose - revealing its red grape origins - while a fine, enthusiastic mousse enlivens the floral bouquet in the mouth. A mouth-filling roundness on the palate shows ample fresh fruit intensity and body, which is perfectly balanced by a subtle acid structure that leads to a crisp, refreshing dry finish.

Simonsig Brut Rosé 2005 is a lively sibling of renowned big brother Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel, a former champion of WINE Magazine’s annual Amorim Cork Cap Classique Challenge.
