SIMONSIG WELCOMES INTIMATE AFFAIRS IN SUAVE VAN NIEKERK ROOM

Wine estate cement s legacy with new private functions lounge

Simonsig Estate celebrates its winemaking legacy of more than four decades, with the unveiling of a suave new heirloom, the Van Niekerk Room, a stylish extension of the owners’ hospitality, welcoming sophisticated intimate affairs.

Dedicated to the late Liza Malan – beloved mother of the three brothers of Simonsig, and daughter of Pieter Beyers Van Niekerk who owned this legendary Stellenbosch farm back in the late 40’s – this private room houses the motherly heart of Simonsig in a chic yet intimate milieu.

“De hoop farm, today more commonly known as Simonsig Estate, is where my mother grew up. Her love for the finer and beautiful things in life and warm hospitality left an indelible impact on all of us,” explains Francois Malan.

The décor of the new Van Niekerk Room, situated above the estate’s eclectic Cuvée restaurant, embraces the world of charm in complete contrast to the space downstairs. Where the restaurant captivates with a quirky mix of nostalgia and Cape Dutch modernism, this new private meeting sphere beguiles with slick sophistication.

‘We wanted to create a space that is intimate and warm, yet sexy, functional and fresh, where small groups of friends or business acquaintances can meet for an unsurpassed Simonsig wine and culinary experience while minding their own business. Whether it is to celebrate a special birthday party, or to brainstorm your next business venture...here you know you will always be in good company,” says Neil Stemmet of Koncept Design & Architecture.

Neil added drama to this complex, though extremely comfortable, lounge setting by using a robust palette of Stellenbosch greens, his signature National Geographic yellow, cardinal red and sleek black and white lines, strikingly captured in symmetrical porcelain tiles.

The swanky Van Niekerk Room, exclusive to intimate lunch or dinner occasions, serves up elegant, Cape Classic fair from the Cuvée kitchen, with each tasting menu inspired by and paired with the finest vintages from winemaker Johan Malan’s special Vinotique of rare cellar gems.

Ranging from cosy soirees enlivened with a lavish Champagne Menu of deluxe canapés and flutes of the finest Cap Classiques to lingering lunches and sophisticated dinners, this new venue is ideal for private celebrations or corporate affairs. The room can accommodate a maximum of 30 guests whilst a minimum of 15 people is required to secure the venue.
