SIMONSIG KAAPSE VONKEL BRUT ROSÉ SCORES TOPS IN TWO USA POLLSPinotage driven MCC gets the nod from American aficionados Pioneering Stellenbosch wine estate,
Simonsig, is paving the way for South African Méthode Cap Classique in the tough
USA market with Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé clinching the
venerable 90-point mark in no less than two authoritative wine publications in
under three months Since December 2008, this Pinotage driven
Cap Classique has attained a 90-point rating for its 2007 vintage in both Wine & Spirits Magazine and Wine Enthusiast, two
definitive wine publications in the With this double 90-point score Simonsig’s
Brut Rosé has certainly moved on from being just the lively sibling of South
Africa’s renowned first bottle fermented sparkling wine, Kaapse Vonkel. Wine & Spirits Magazine praises the Brut
Rosé for its exemplary quality in its February 2009 issue and describes this full
flavoured pink sparkler as a ‘full-on rosé and a blend of Pinotage and 10 percent
Pinot Noir that delivers’. Wine Enthusiast gave this gorgeous Cap
Classique a 90-point rating in its December issue. “My enduring
passion for bubblies stems from my late father, Frans Malan, the first South
African to produce bottle fermented sparkling wine in 1971,” says Simonsig
Cellar Master Johan Malan, who is also the founding chairman of the Cap
Classique Producers Association. The delightfully
refreshing Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé 2007 captivates with a rosy salmon
pink hue, elegant taste and crescendo of fine crisp bubbles. Rose petal and red
berry aromas dominate the nose - revealing the wine’s red grape origins – while
a fine, enthusiastic mousse enlivens the floral bouquet in the mouth. A
mouth-filling roundness on the palate shows ample fresh fruit intensity and
body, which is perfectly balanced by a subtle acid structure. The Simonsig Kaapse
Vonkel Brut Rosé 2007 lends romance and panache to candle lit dinners, sunset picnics
or any self-indulgent moment. It is a great food pairing choice but also a
stellar solo sip. Try it with smoked salmon, sushi, sweet and sour dishes,
roast turkey or tropical fruit salads.
